Owned by the Keller family, Keller Estate Winery and Vineyards is nestled in the Sonoma Coast and specializes in creating artisan, handcrafted Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Syrah.
Originally founded by Arturo and Deborah Keller, today Keller Estate is directed by Ana Keller, Arturo Keller’s daughter. A commitment to aesthetics, quality and elegance have defined the way of life at Keller Estate and resulted in outstanding wines from the region.
We are the southernmost winery in the Sonoma Coast appellation and the first to establish ourselves in the Petaluma Valley. The terroir at Keller Estate is defined by the Petaluma Gap and is subject to two major maritime influences. The San Pablo Bay lies immediately to the south, while to the northwest is an opening in the coastal hills which allows masses of fog to flow freely towards the Petaluma Valley. This geographical signature is unique and creates a cool and long growing season for our vineyards. Keller Estate’s Pinot Noir grows particularly beautifully in these foggy conditions.
The estate is comprised of a large acreage of rangeland, olive groves, gardens, and vineyards. The Petaluma River runs no more than a stone’s throw from the western border of the property which rises from the sea level to over 500 feet in elevation through spectacular series of hills. Views from the property are magnificent with panoramic views of Mount Diablo and Tamalpais, Angel Island, the city of San Francisco, the Valley of the Moon, and far Western Sonoma.

    Over 30 years ago, the Keller family began producing organically farmed Estate wine to capture the distinct soil, topography, and climate our property. This terroir-driven philosophy enables us to guide the process from vine to bottle, creating beautifully
    balanced and expressive wines with a true sense of place.

    The 2019 vintage was vastly characterized by a series of
    environmental challenges, putting vineyard crews and winemakers
    to the test. The season started with record-breaking rainfall and
    flooding leading to a relatively cool spring, slightly delaying bud
    break with harvest time trending well into September. Hefty rain
    in May luckily did not cause disruption in yields since flowering had not yet begun in the majority of the vineyards. Average, stable temperatures throughout the summer lead to a friendly, steady grape development with perfect balances of acid and sugar.
    Come harvest, we were met with a curveball of extreme spikes in temperature and fire hazards, calling for strategic and innovative
    picking decisions. This historic season, accompanied by our team’s intelligent decision-making, leads to incredibly complex, dynamic wines that, much like the season, are historical.

    ‘Oro de Plata’ Petaluma Gap ~ Keller Estate

    balanced and expressive wines with a true sense of place.

    The 2020 Oro de Plata, comprised of 100% Old Wente Clone, was carefully hand-harvested over several cold autumn nights. The fruit
    was gently pressed and transferred to stainless steel tanks for slow fermentation under low temperatures. After four weeks, fermentation was complete, and the wine was left in the tanks to age on the lees for three months, never undergoing malolactic fermentation. After aging, the Oro de Plata Chardonnay was filtered, then bottled using a Nomacorc 100 closure, with a specific low oxygen ingress rate.
