Domaine de Cabasse
The name “Cabasse” can be traced back to the appellation casa bassa: the “deep (below the village) lying house.” The origins of Domaine de Cabasse can be traced back to the fourteenth century, to the time when the church was divided and a pope resided in Avignon along with the papa in Rome.
The Haeni family moved from Switzerland to Séguret in 1990.
This was an important step for the Swiss agricultural engineer Alfred Haeni: in the coming years he would implement the basic guidelines that he had been preaching to other farmers over the course of his twenty years as a researcher.
The principle of integrated crop management soon arrived at the Domaine. In 2004, Haeni′s son Nicolas took over management of the winery, which he continued in his father's tradition.
Nicolas Haeni: “With every new vintage we have the possibility to improve. It′s a constant challenge. Nothing is set in stone. That′s what I love about my work.”
The growing area extends across twenty hectares and various appellations: Séguret, Sablet Côtes du Rhône Villages A.O.C., and Gigondas A.O.C.
