Domaine de Bonserine

Domaine de Bonserine is one of the most significant players in Côte Rôtie, with a 10 hectares of vineyards that are concentrated throughout 11 different sites in the northern part of the appellation.

It was in 1961 that Domaine de Bonserine was created at the initiative of Charles Mandelstam and a group of friends who loved the region and its wines. He had ambition and was given the means to make wines of the highest quality. With a team of professionals he led by passion and ambition to make the great Côte-Rôtie wines.

The first plots were planted in the 50s on the most beautiful hills of Ampuis. The vineyards are ideally located mainly in the Côte Brune region with micaschist soils, rich in iron oxide - giving complexity and colour to the wines.

The average age of the vineyards of Bonserine is 25 years which allows each year  the production of the "old vines" Syrah.

In the second half of the 90's major upgrades of the winery were undertaken with the installation of stainless steel tanks.

This period also marked the beginning of a decade of great work in the vineyard including planting new plots as the prestigious Viallière and Planèze "terroirs"

Since 2006, Domaine de Bonserine has been operated by E. Guigal and retains a more qualitative philosophy. Bonserine's winemaker, Stéphane Carrel, continues to oversee the domaine's 4,000-case annual production.
