Château de L’Evéché

Château L’Evêché consists of three plots, all located in the South part of Pomerol area.

The vineyard is planted on slight slopes that emerged from the  erosion of the Isle River, the main affluent of the Dordogne River.  It also benefits from a desirable southern exposure.

The soil is mainly composed of red gravel and sand sub soil.  The wine's typical blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.

The avergage age of the vines in Château Lafleur St Jean are around 50 years old, which is remarkable. This means the vines will be very "hardened" and its roots will be buried deep in the famous soil. This makes for a wine with great concentation!

Whatever the winemaking stage, fertilization, phytosanitary protection or grape growing are being taken care of separately for each plot.

It enables an optimum harvest.  Indeed, two weeks before harvesting, each plot is checked daily. In its early stage, Château L’Evêché features a very intense colour with glints of purple. In mouth, it is well balanced and harmonious. After a few days, finesse and elegance prevail. It also expresses some tabacco aromas.
