Château Lavillotte

This 11 hectare vineyard, enjoying superb exposure and planted with noble grape varieties, is the object of detailed attention and skilled cultivation techniques.

In 1962, this ancient vineyard, reduced to a few old and poorly tended vines, was completely restored with the greatest care by the present owner Jacques Pedro.

The 6 acre estate is marvellously located on clayey chalk and stony subsoil. Vinification is in the traditional manner - the wine is matured in oak barrels then bottled and kept in superbly conditioned underground cellars for ageing.

The average age of the vines are 40 years old, which are cultivated to make a blended wine of 67% Cabernet sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot.

The harvest, vinified in the traditional way, is aged in oak cask and then bottled which are kept in underground cellars, admirably suited for ageing.

The resulting wines are powerful with melting tannins and much appreciated for their remarkable finesse and delicate bouquet.

Only 5000 cases (60 000 bottles) are produced each year.

Château Lavillotte is part of Pedro Domaines who also own Château Le Meynieu and domaine de la Ronceray, both in A.O.C. St-Estephe.
