Pinot Gris

A variety undoubtedly at its best in Alsace, where it can produce succulent, rich, and complex wines of great quality, and a spiciness seldom encounted elsewhere.  It is also responsible for many sweet fortified wines throughout the world.

Perhaps best known as Italian Pinot Grigio, this grape makes appealingly light, summery wines, but as Pinot Gris it can prove surprisingly intense.

There are many late harvest, sweet styles but the drier of these wines, like Domaine Kubler "K", are some of the finest whites to drink with rich savoury food.

Pronounced: PEE-noh GREE
