Pinot Blanc
Apart from in Germany, Italy and Hungary, the variety is predominantly grown in Alsace, where it is perhpas at its best and most successful, producing fruity, well-balanced wines with good grip and alcohol content. In 2000, there were 1,300 hectares of Pinot blanc in Alsace, where it is used for both still white wines and is the most common variety used for sparkling wine, Crémant d'Alsace.
