Grenache
Grenache is famously grown in southern France where it is largely responsible for the wines including Gigondas, Vacqueyras and, in blend, the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Grenache (pronounced gren-ash) is one of the most widely planted red wine grape varieties in the world. It ripens late, so needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in the south of France and California. A light styled rosé is also popularly made in these regions.
Pronounced: Gruh-NAHSH
